TIBSHELF BROTHERS CONVICTED OF MURDER AND BURGLARY

Amos and Jason Wilsher, two brothers, have been found guilty of serious criminal acts, including murder and conspiracy to rob, during proceedings at Coventry Crown Court.

The case covered the death of Arthur Gumbley, aged 87, who died after being assaulted in Staffordshire in November 2017; Amos Wilsher was also convicted of killing 88-year-old Josephine Kaye, whom he injured during a separate incident.

The assault on Mr.

Gumbley caused injuries like broken ribs, which contributed to his death three weeks later while in hospital.

DNA evidence linked Amos Wilsher to Mrs.

Kaye’s murder through items such as a screwdriver and a hat, as well as a fingerprint on a vehicle.

The brothers were also convicted of attacking Dennis Taylor, another elderly man, causing injuries including a broken nose and fingers, and stealing valuables.

Their sentences are to be decided in due course.

The evidence revealed a pattern of violent burglaries, including a fraudulent gas-related job by Amos Wilsher that resulted in injuries, along with the theft of a £20,000 safe from Mrs.

Kaye’s home.

The trial underscored their involvement in a series of violent criminal activities aimed at robbing vulnerable victims, leading to multiple deaths and injuries.

Staffordshire Police highlighted the importance of bringing them to justice, with Detective Chief Inspector Dan Ison commenting, 'Though no punishment can undo what has happened to Arthur and Josephine, I hope these convictions bring a measure of closure and demonstrate that justice has been served.'
