AMJAD HUSSAIN FROM KEIGHLEY SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS FOR RAPE AND GROOMING OF TEENAGER

A father of five, Amjad Hussain, aged 35 and residing on Adar Street in Keighley, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after being convicted of multiple sexual offenses against a vulnerable teenage girl over a decade ago. Hussain was among five men found guilty following a trial held in October, in which he was specifically convicted of two counts of rape and an additional charge linked to multiple incident rapes.

During the sentencing at Bradford Crown Court, the judge described Hussain's actions as "gross abuse". He drove the victim to remote locations, where he offered her alcohol before assaulting her. The victim, whose identity must remain confidential by law, was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder as a direct result of her experiences in 2009 and 2010.

Judge Andrew Hatton noted, "The gross abuse she suffered at the hands of you and others like you is a significant factor in her mental state now." The court also observed from the evidence that Hussain bore responsibility for "passing on" the teenage girl to other men.

Hussain will serve at least two-thirds of his sentence and will be required to register as a sex offender for life. In February, four other men involved in the case were also jailed as part of West Yorkshire Police’s Operation Dalesway.

Deputy Chief Inspector Alan Weekes of West Yorkshire Police praised the victim for her bravery in reporting the offenses. He stated, "The abuse she endured robbed her of her childhood and I hope seeing all of these men sent to prison for these horrendous offences will allow her to start to look forward to the future."
