KENT STALKER SUBJECTS VICTIM TO CAMPAIGN OF 'RELENTLESS ABUSE AND THREATS'
A man from East Farleigh who subjected his former partner to a series of abusive acts, including spitting in her face during a sustained campaign of harassment and threats, has been imprisoned.Alwyn Tuttiett harassed his victim through persistent phone calls, emails, and social media activity, while also following her as she walked with her child.
Tuttiett pursued the woman over several months after they ended their relationship in October 2023.
His harassment involved leaving her with aggressive, degrading, and sexually explicit voice messages and texts, which caused her ongoing fear for her personal safety.
At one point, he made 134 phone calls to her within a single week.
Following her attempts to block communications via phone and email, Tuttiett then posted damaging comments on her friends’ Facebook pages, which also affected her business reputation.
On February 6, he appeared at her home, and in front of her child, yelled at her and spat in her face.
He was subsequently arrested later that month.
Despite the imposition of strict bail conditions, he continued his harassment and intimidation.
Tuttiett, living on Station Hill in East Farleigh, was rearrested in June, charged, and remanded in custody by magistrates.
The 47-year-old admitted to stalking causing significant alarm or distress at Maidstone Crown Court.
A related charge of assault by beating was left on file.
On October 31, he received a sentence of 15 months in prison and was issued a five-year restraining order.
Detective Constable Josh Barkaway led the investigation, stating: "Tuttiett subjected his victim to repeated and appalling psychological abuse.
He made countless phone calls and sent unwanted texts and social media messages to her, leaving her in constant fear and forcing her to change her daily routines.
"The harassment was relentless and has caused his victim a huge amount of distress and anxiety.
We are grateful that she has shown tremendous courage in coming forward and helping us secure this important sentence.'I would also like to remind people there is a wealth of support on offer to anyone who is suffering this kind of abuse."
