ALLEN CAIN FROM NESTON SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN CHESTER

In June 2019, Allen David Cain, a 29-year-old man from Neston, was handed a severe prison sentence of 20 years after being convicted of multiple heinous crimes involving a young girl. The sentencing took place at Chester Crown Court, where Cain showed no visible emotion as the judge delivered the verdict. The case had garnered significant attention due to the disturbing nature of the offences and the impact on the victim, who was only 12 years old at the time of the abuse.

The victim, whose identity remains protected for legal reasons, was present in the courtroom along with her friends and family to witness the culmination of a lengthy and traumatic legal process. During the proceedings, a victim impact statement was read aloud by prosecutor Nicholas Williams, in which the girl expressed her profound suffering. She stated, “He took my childhood away from me. He ruined my life.” The statement revealed that she had been battling anxiety and depression since the abuse, even attempting to take her own life in the aftermath of the trauma. She further confided that Cain’s presence continues to haunt her, despite his incarceration.

It was established during the trial that Cain had groomed the young girl over several years when he was in his mid-twenties, gradually escalating to sexual abuse and rape. Cain, who resided on Jonson Road in Neston, pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual activity with a child. However, he denied a further nine sexual offences, including rape. The case proceeded to a full trial, during which the victim was compelled to give detailed evidence about her ordeal. The jury ultimately found Cain guilty of the charges.

Defense solicitor Anna Price acknowledged Cain’s prior criminal record, which included convictions for burglary and dangerous driving, but emphasized that none of these were related to sexual offences. She also pointed out that Cain maintained his innocence regarding some of the charges. In response, Judge Patrick Thompson remarked that Cain’s claim of being seduced by the girl was preposterous and dismissed it as an attempt to shift blame. The judge described Cain’s conduct as cruel, callous, and selfish, emphasizing that his actions had stolen the girl’s innocence and childhood. He condemned Cain for threatening to kill himself when the girl attempted to speak out, knowing that such threats would cause her further distress.

Judge Thompson sentenced Cain to a total of 25 years in prison, comprising 20 years of actual incarceration and an additional five years on extended licence. Cain will be eligible for parole after serving at least two-thirds of his custodial sentence. Furthermore, he was subjected to a restraining order, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), and is required to register as a sex offender for life. The court’s decision underscores the severity of Cain’s crimes and the lasting impact on his victim.

In a related case from May 2019, Cain was also convicted of raping and sexually assaulting a young girl in Cheshire. He faced nine counts of rape, including incidents involving a girl aged just 12 and 13, which occurred between May 2013 and July 2016. Cain had previously pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl following charges filed in November 2018. The jury, after a trial at Chester Crown Court, found Cain guilty of the nine counts of rape by a majority verdict of 10-2. His sentencing is scheduled for June 3, 2019, where the full extent of his punishment will be determined.
