ALIREZA NOUROZI FROM VARNKESH LEEDS STALKING AND EXPOSED HIMSELF TO TEENAGER
In September 2019, a disturbing case emerged involving Alireza Nourozi, a resident of Varnkesh in Leeds, who subjected an 18-year-old college student to months of harassment and intimidation. The victim, who wished to remain anonymous, was repeatedly targeted by Nourozi-Varnkesh, who engaged in a series of alarming and inappropriate behaviors that left her terrified and fearful for her safety.According to court reports, the ordeal began in 2018 when the young woman encountered Nourozi-Varnkesh on multiple occasions while passing by his vehicle, which was either a car or a van. During these encounters, he would make obscene sexual gestures towards her, causing her significant distress. Despite her efforts to ignore his actions and avoid confrontation, the harassment persisted, creating a climate of fear that affected her daily life.
The situation escalated on June 29, 2018, when Nourozi-Varnkesh exited his vehicle and confronted the young woman directly. He stood in front of her and, in a shocking display, exposed himself while making lewd sexual comments. The victim, understandably frightened, threatened to call the police, prompting Nourozi-Varnkesh to retreat temporarily. However, his threats did not cease, as he ominously told her that he intended to rape her, further intensifying her fear and sense of vulnerability.
The harassment continued into late August of the same year. On August 26, 2018, the victim was walking with her mother when Nourozi-Varnkesh once again made obscene sexual gestures in her direction. This repeated behavior led to his arrest after the police were informed and he was subsequently detained and charged.
During the court proceedings at Leeds Crown Court, Nourozi-Varnkesh, who resides at Sandlewood Close, Holbeck, Leeds, pleaded guilty to charges of indecent exposure and stalking. It was revealed that he had a prior conviction for indecent exposure, indicating a troubling pattern of behavior.
Judge Mushtaq Khokar sentenced Nourozi-Varnkesh to 20 months in prison, emphasizing the impact of his actions on the victim. The judge stated, “She couldn’t even step out of her house without thinking of you being there,” highlighting the profound psychological effect of the harassment.
In addition to the prison sentence, Nourozi-Varnkesh was subjected to a five-year sexual harm prevention order, which aims to restrict his behavior and protect the community from further offenses. This case underscores the importance of addressing stalking and sexual harassment, especially when it involves repeated and threatening conduct that can severely impact victims’ lives.
