YOUNG WOMAN CAUGHT WITH CHILD EXPLOITATION IMAGES GETS COMMUNITY ORDER
A woman, Alicia Nkemla, who started selling sexual images of herself online when she was just 17, has been brought before Manchester Crown Court after police uncovered evidence of her involvement in child exploitation. The court heard that Nkemla was caught with numerous indecent images of children after a raid on her home in October 2023.
Officers recovered two mobile phones which contained "hundreds of indecent images of children." During police chats, Nkemla admitted that she played along with her clients for money and attention, despite knowing it was wrong.
She also used the messaging app Telegram to communicate with customers, where she was encouraged to engage in acts of bestiality and received videos in response.
Prosecutor William Donnelly stated, “She said she knew it was wrong to keep these images, but said she played along for the money.” She denied that the images were for her sexual gratification, claiming instead that she was motivated by financial gain and attention from men.
The court was told that at age 17, she began providing sexual services online.
A psychiatric report was reviewed, and the judge acknowledged her difficult childhood but emphasized the reality of the harm caused to children depicted in the images.
Nkemla, now 19, pleaded guilty to possession of indecent images of children and an extreme pornographic image.
The judge, Recorder Paul Hodgkinson, sentenced her to an 18-month community order, 140 hours of unpaid work, and 30 days of rehabilitation.
Additionally, she will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and registered as a sex offender for five years.
As she left the dock, the judge told her, “You need to consider yourself very lucky indeed,” highlighting the serious nature of her crimes and the significant harm inflicted upon victims.
The court’s ruling reflected its view of her actions as a serious abuse of children with lifelong consequences.
