MAN ADMITS ATTEMPTED RAPE OF WOMAN IN HER 70S AT SHEFFIELD PARK
A 25-year-old man is now in police custody after confessing to charges of attempted rape and causing serious bodily harm, following an attack on a woman in her seventies at a Sheffield park.The allegations stem from an incident that took place at Concord Park in the Shiregreen neighborhood of Sheffield on March 25, 2026.
At a hearing held at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday, July 3, 2026, Ali Askre admitted to both charges.
The assault happened around 7:26 am, when police were called to reports of a man assaulting and attempting to sexually assault an elderly woman walking through the park.
The case was adjourned until October for sentencing.
Askre, formerly residing on Torksey Road West in Firth Park, Sheffield, remains in police custody until the court hands down its sentence.
