ALFRED GROGAN FROM BRAUNSTONE SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN LEICESTER
In April 2010, Alfred Leonard Grogan, a man aged 61 and formerly residing in Braunstone, Leicester, was sentenced to serve three years and nine months in prison after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offenses involving young children.His crimes included the sexual abuse of two schoolchildren, with the abuse spanning several years and involving different victims.
Grogan was found guilty of five counts of indecent assault against a schoolgirl, beginning when she was just nine years old.
The charges also included indecency with the same girl when she was between 12 and 13 years old.
In addition, he admitted to indecently assaulting a young boy, touching him inappropriately when he was only six or seven years old.
These offenses highlight a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior involving vulnerable minors.
Following his conviction, Grogan was ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Furthermore, he was subjected to a sexual offences prevention order, which imposes strict restrictions on his contact with children under the age of 16 for a period of ten years.
These measures are designed to protect the community and prevent any future offenses.
During the sentencing hearing at Leicester Crown Court, Simon Clarke, representing Grogan in mitigation, expressed the defendant’s remorse and regret.
Clarke stated, “He wishes the court to understand his regret and remorse.
After he’d entered his guilty pleas (at an earlier hearing), his marriage broke down.
He’s lost everything.” The case underscores the serious consequences faced by individuals convicted of such heinous crimes and the ongoing efforts to safeguard children from sexual exploitation and abuse.
