CHRISTOPHER DRUMMOND AND ALEXANDER STEWART SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC SEXUAL ASSAULTS IN INVERGORDON
A disturbing case has culminated in the sentencing of two men, Christopher Drummond and Alexander Stewart, for their involvement in a series of brutal sexual assaults against a young woman in Invergordon. The incident, which took place on October 18 of the previous year, has shocked the local community and drawn significant attention from the judicial system.According to court proceedings held at the High Court in Edinburgh, the victim, a 19-year-old woman, was lured into a trap after establishing contact with Stewart through a dating website. What followed was a series of heinous acts committed within Stewart’s flat located on High Street in Invergordon. The court heard that both brothers subjected her to multiple acts of sexual violence, with the assault being characterized as particularly severe and traumatic.
During the trial, Lady Carmichael, presiding over the case, highlighted the dynamics between the two accused. She pointed out that Christopher Drummond exerted a dominant influence over his younger brother, Alexander Stewart. The court was told that Drummond’s attitude towards women was “extremely troubling,” reflecting a concerning pattern of behavior. The evidence presented painted a grim picture of manipulation and control, with Stewart being especially vulnerable to his older brother’s influence.
In her sentencing remarks, Lady Carmichael sentenced Alexander Stewart to four and a half years in prison, acknowledging the gravity of his actions. Meanwhile, Christopher Drummond received a more severe sentence of seven years, reflecting the court’s view of his greater level of culpability. Both men were ordered to register on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely, a measure aimed at protecting the community from future harm.
Following the sentencing, the judge emphasized the disturbing nature of Drummond’s attitude towards women, describing it as “extremely troubling.” Additionally, Stewart was subjected to an 18-month supervision order upon his release, intended to monitor his behavior and prevent further offenses. The court also noted that Stewart’s susceptibility to manipulation by his older brother was a significant factor in the case.
The assault itself involved the brothers restraining the victim and subjecting her to multiple rapes. Witnesses who saw the aftermath described her as “crying hysterically,” underscoring the emotional and physical trauma inflicted. Both men had initially denied the charges during an earlier trial but were ultimately found guilty of assault and rape after evidence was presented that proved their guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
