ALEXANDER ST JOHN SMITH'S BRUTAL ATTACK IN KIRKCALDY AND LEVEN LEAVES VICTIM FEARFUL

Alexander St John Smith, aged 36, has been found guilty of a violent assault that left a lasting impact on Becky Lee Young, a mother of four. The incident took place within her own home during a birthday celebration that she had organized specifically for Smith. Witnesses and reports detail how Smith suddenly lost control, launching a savage attack that resulted in severe physical injuries for Becky Lee Young.

According to accounts, the assault lasted approximately 20 to 30 minutes, during which Smith inflicted multiple injuries on her. Becky sustained fractured ribs, a black eye, a burst nose, and a cut lip. The brutality was further evidenced by footprints left on her face and noticeable lumps on her head, indicating the force and violence of the attack. She described the ordeal as extremely traumatic, noting that her head injuries caused dizziness and neck pain, which persisted long after the incident.

Following the assault, Smith was brought before Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, where he received a community payback order. Despite the seriousness of his actions, he was not sentenced to jail and has since been released, a decision that has left Becky feeling deeply concerned for her safety and that of others. She expressed her fears openly, stating, “While I was beaten black and blue, I survived the attack. What if his next victim doesn’t?” Her disappointment is compounded by her belief that Smith should have faced a more severe punishment, as she struggles to understand how he can continue to live a normal life after such violence.

Becky recounted her history with Smith, revealing that they first met at a fairground in Fife during their teenage years. The two lost contact for a period but reconnected five years ago in Leven, where she affectionately called him Eck. Her account takes a darker turn during a surprise birthday party for Smith in November 2017. She describes how his mood suddenly shifted, leading to a violent outburst. Smith pushed her partner aside before turning his aggression toward Becky herself. He kicked her in the stomach, stamped on her head, threw her over a chair, punched her, and dragged her across the floor. During the attack, he also hurled a knife in her direction while she was on the ground.

Fortunately, neighbors responded swiftly, calling the police and preventing what could have been a fatal outcome. Becky believes she might have died if help had not arrived in time. Despite suffering injuries such as a trembling hand, neck pain, and ongoing PTSD, she has chosen to speak out publicly. Her aim is to advocate for justice and to raise awareness about the dangers of such violence. She remains troubled and distressed that Smith continues to be free to walk the streets of Kirkcaldy and Leven, raising concerns about the safety of the community and future potential victims.
