DUNDEE BUSINESSMAN FOUND GUILTY OF SEX ATTACK ON SLEEPING GIRL, 16
A businessman from Dundee has been convicted of sexual assault after luring intoxicated young people to his residence.Alexander Forootan, aged 40 and a director of an IT company, was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl while she was asleep.
The incident occurred at his former home in Thorter Neuk, Dundee, on March 1, 2020.
The court heard that Forootan, who currently resides in London, was with the girl after collecting her from a casino and promising to take her to an 'after-party.' The girl, who is unable to be identified, woke up to police informing her that they were arresting Forootan for sexually assaulting her as she lay unconscious on his sofa.
She testified that she had no idea how her underwear ended on his floor or why her dress had been pulled up.
The case also involved another young man, aged 24, who had been brought back to Forootan’s flat from the casino and was motivated to call police silently due to concerns she might be assaulted.
This witness told the court that he had met the girl at the casino, and both of them had gone in a taxi to Forootan's address for a party.
He explained that they were strangers to Forootan and had consumed alcohol with him before the girl fell asleep on the couch.
The witness described seeing the man next to her, touching her thigh, while she was asleep, and stated he tried to alert police without attracting the older man’s attention.
The man, now age 24, confirmed to the jury that he left the flat after witnessing what he believed was inappropriate contact, feeling concerned about her safety.
Police located the girl nearby, and she provided a statement describing her memory of going to the house, drinking, and later being awakened by officers.
She recounted feeling confused, crying, and experiencing pain and nausea after the incident.
The court verdict resulted in Forootan being remanded into custody pending sentencing scheduled for next month.
