ALEX KING JAILED FOR 24 YEARS IN DERBY AFTER SERIAL SEX ATTACKS AND RAPE CASES

A man named Alex King, known to have committed multiple sexual offenses in the Derby area, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 24 years following a series of disturbing attacks. The most recent incident occurred in September 2023, involving a teenage girl who was subjected to a terrifying ordeal after King offered to assist her following her vehicle breakdown.

According to reports, King approached the teenage girl while she was stranded on the road and claimed he intended to take her home. Instead of helping her, he drove her to a secluded location where he proceeded to commit a series of rapes. During the assault, he also issued threats to kill her, heightening her fear and distress. Fortunately, the girl was eventually able to escape when King released her from the vehicle. She managed to flag down a passing motorist, who promptly contacted the police to report the incident.

In an unusual turn of events, King later contacted the police himself, claiming that he had been acting as a Good Samaritan and that the girl had attempted to blackmail him. This bizarre explanation did not prevent his arrest. Officers from Derby’s specialist rape investigation team swiftly linked the two incidents, leading to his detention at his residence on Dudley Drive, Littleover.

During the investigation, authorities uncovered significant similarities between the September 2023 attack and an earlier incident in Littleover the previous month. In that case, a teenage girl reported that a man in a dark-colored car had tried to abduct her by attempting to drag her into his vehicle on Chain Lane, Littleover. The girl fought off her attacker and managed to escape, while the suspect drove away from the scene.

Further inquiries revealed that King’s black BMW matched the description of the vehicle involved in the attempted abduction. CCTV footage from his home, captured on his doorbell camera, showed him leaving his residence during the time the offense occurred. This evidence established a clear link between King and the attempted abduction, raising concerns that he might have been involved in other similar crimes in the area.

Investigators expanded their search beyond Derby, examining other cases with comparable circumstances. Their efforts led to the connection of King to a reported rape in Newark from September 2019, where a teenage girl claimed she was assaulted by a man following a party. Initially, no charges were filed, but after re-contacting the victim, authorities confirmed that King was indeed the perpetrator.

Following these findings, King was formally charged with four counts of rape related to the September 2023 attack, one count of attempted rape for the August incident, and another count of rape for the 2018 case. He ultimately pleaded guilty to all charges. On 24 February, at Derby Crown Court, he was sentenced to 24 years in prison, with an extended license period of six years. Additionally, he will be required to register as a sex offender for life, reflecting the severity and ongoing risk associated with his crimes.
