BRISTOL MAN ALEC BUTT SENTENCED FOR VIOLENT ATTACK ON EX-WIFE ON WHITELEADS ROAD
Alec Butt, a 71-year-old resident of Bristol, has been sentenced to a prison term of seven years and nine months after being found guilty of a brutal assault on his former wife. The incident took place on December 28, 2019, along the busy thoroughfare of Whiteladies Road in Bristol, where Butt had deliberately waited for Anna Butt with the intent to harm her.According to court reports, Butt launched a violent attack using a hammer and a screwdriver, inflicting severe injuries to Anna’s head, arms, and hands. During the assault, he attempted to conceal his identity by covering his face, and he forcefully pushed Anna against a wall to carry out the attack. Witnesses nearby heard her screams for help, which prompted a passer-by to contact the police, bringing the assault to an abrupt end.
Anna Butt later described her ordeal as terrifying and traumatic. She recounted seeing her children’s faces and her parents during the attack, emphasizing the emotional toll of the incident. In her own words, she said,
