PERTHSHIRE MAN ALASDAIR MORRISON PUT ON SEX OFFENDERS REGISTER AFTER CHILD PORNOGRAPHY FINDINGS
A man from Perthshire, Alasdair Morrison, has been placed on the sex offenders register after authorities discovered nearly 40,000 images of children as young as two years old. Morrison, 37, explained to police that he began downloading the illicit images out of curiosity while in Crieff.Perth Sheriff Court heard that Morrison, who previously owned a garage, relocated from the area after being detected. The court was informed that his current residence is in Derbyshire. Morrison’s sentencing was deferred to allow for the preparation of background reports.
The investigation was initiated through an international operation coordinated by the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre, which led to Morrison’s arrest. Authorities found that he had downloaded the images both on his home computer and on a business laptop used at his garage.
Police forensic analysis on the laptops revealed that 12,181 images had been downloaded and then deleted from the business laptop. Additionally, 26,288 images were found stored on his home computer’s hard drive, along with various memory sticks and CD disks.
Fiscal depute John Malpass explained to the court: “The ages of the female children depicted ranged from two to approximately 14 years old. The images were classified as category one, meaning they depicted erotic posing without sexual activity. They had been stored in a well-organized, user-created folder structure, and expert opinion confirmed that this organization could not have been accidental.”
Morrison admitted to making a full confession, providing police with details of the websites he visited and explaining how he paid for the material he downloaded. During the hearing, he also pleaded guilty to possessing indecent photographs of children between September 2, 2006, and February 5, 2008.
