ALAN NICHOLSON FROM HARRINGTON SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN CUMBRIA

In December 2022, a man from Harrington named Alan Nicholson was handed a significant prison sentence after being convicted of serious online sexual offenses. Alan Nicholson, aged 53 and residing on Main Street in Harrington, was formally charged and appeared before Carlisle Crown Court. The court found him guilty of two separate charges related to attempting to facilitate sexual activity with a minor. These charges stemmed from disturbing online communications in which Nicholson solicited explicit images and encouraged a woman to sexually assault a child.

Specifically, Nicholson was accused of requesting a woman to send naked photographs of a child and instructing her to carry out a sexual assault on the child. These actions highlight the severity of his offending and the danger he posed to vulnerable minors.

Following his conviction, Nicholson was sentenced to three years in prison. Additionally, he was placed on the Sex Offender Register for life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities to prevent further harm.
