ALAN JENKINS SENTENCED TO 16 YEARS FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES IN BLAENAVON
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Blaenavon, Alan Jenkins, a 56-year-old man, was handed a lengthy prison sentence of 16 years and eight months at Newport Crown Court for a series of heinous crimes involving the sexual assault and rape of five young girls.
The offences, which spanned nearly a decade from May 1995 to June 2007, included almost 40 separate counts of sexual misconduct, highlighting the severity and extent of Jenkins' criminal behavior.
Jenkins, a resident of Hillside Avenue in Blaenavon, had previously entered a plea of not guilty to all charges during the trial proceedings.
Despite his denial, the evidence presented in court was compelling enough to secure a conviction.
As part of his sentencing, Jenkins was also disqualified from working with children, a measure aimed at preventing any future harm.
Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, a requirement that underscores the gravity of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
Among the five victims, the case was particularly distressing for their families.
One mother, who requested anonymity, revealed that she was unaware of her daughter's ordeal until 2003, when her daughter confided in her about the abuse.
