BLACKPOOL MASSEUR JAILED FOR MULTIPLE SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON WOMEN
Alan Garforth, aged 70 and residing in Pavey Close, Blackpool, has been found guilty of multiple sexual offences.According to reports, Garforth, who worked as a masseur, assaulted several women while providing massage services at his home address.
The incidents came to light after a woman in her 20s reported that she was attacked at Garforth's home in 2018, following a massage session.
Following an investigation by Lancashire Police, Garforth admitted to offenses of sexual assault and sexual assault by penetration at Burnley Crown Court in 2021 and was sentenced to two years in prison that same year.
Recently, he was convicted of five additional sexual assault offences against five women and was sentenced by Preston Crown Court to a further three and a half years imprisonment.
The officer involved, Det Sgt Paul Edmondson of West Division, praised the victims for their bravery and emphasized that Garforth's deception and abuse of trust as a professional masseur had caused significant harm.
He stated, “Garforth chose to deceive women, and sexually assault them for his own gratification.
I welcome the new sentence handed down on him this week.
Garforth advertised himself as a professional masseur at his home address.
Women would innocently book massages with his company, completely unexpecting to be sexually assaulted whilst they were there.
They went to Garforth’s address expecting to see a professional masseur, not a pervert.
Garforth is currently serving a sentence for his crimes.
Thanks to the bravery of his victims, Garforth will now spend even longer in prison.
I hope that this case will give other victims of sexual offences the confidence to come forward.
Please remember, we will always listen to you.”
