Alan Bennett has been convicted for the brutal murders of his ex-partner Jodie Betteridge and her friend Lynne Freeman in 2016.
On the day of the attacks, he was in an aggressive state after drinking, and witnesses reported him as being 'hyper and confrontational.' Bennett stabbed Lynne Freeman at her home in Mapleton Crescent, Redcar, four times in the neck and chest, with witnesses seeing her sitting on the sofa, injured.
Shortly afterwards, he moved to Jodie's house on Byland Crescent, where she was with their three children, and brutally stabbed her 132 times in the face, torso, and legs.
Jodie sustained horrific injuries, including on her hands, indicating she fought back.
The incident came after Bennett had stabbed Freeman and called an ambulance, claiming she had been attacked.
He pleaded guilty to both murders and was sentenced to life imprisonment at Teesside Crown Court, with a minimum term of 32 years and 233 days before eligible for parole.
