SHEFFIELD BUILDER SENTENCED TO SEVEN YEARS FOR CHILD SEXUAL ASSAULT
A Sheffield man has been sentenced to jail after committing a serious sexual assault on a six-year-old girl inside her own residence.Ako Hussain Pur, aged 32, was engaged in building work at a property when he unlawfully entered the bedroom of a young girl, forcibly removed her trousers, and sexually assaulted her.
The case was heard over a four-day trial at Sheffield Crown Court.
The jury was informed how Pur instructed the girl not to tell anyone and denied the allegations when confronted by her father.
On January 5, at Sheffield Crown Court, Pur, who has no fixed residence, was found guilty of sexual penetration of a child under 13.
Consequently, he received a sentence of seven years in prison, along with a 12-month extended license.
Additionally, he was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and mandated to register as a sex offender for life.
Judge Reed, who imposed the sentence, commented that Pur had lied throughout the proceedings but that the jury had recognized his dishonesty.
The judge also emphasized that the young girl should have been safe in her home, and the family should have been able to trust Pur.
Officer Amy Blakey, involved with the case, expressed her praise for the victim's bravery, stating, "I want to commend the tremendous courage the young victim in this case has shown.
It is thanks to her bravery and the incredible strength of her family that a dangerous man is now behind bars." She added, "Nothing can reverse the trauma and harm caused by this serious assault, but I hope that the result brings the victim and her family some closure.
Sexual assault often results in long-term damage, but I hope that Pur’s victim can, with support and care, begin to recover and enjoy a healthy childhood and adulthood." South Yorkshire Police also issued a statement, urging victims of sexual abuse to seek support and report crimes, emphasizing that victims are not to blame and that investigations will be carried out.
