AKBAR ABDOLLAHI SENTENCED TO THREE YEARS IN PRISON FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN HORWICH

In a case that has shocked the community of Horwich, 31-year-old Akbar Abdollahi was sentenced to a three-year prison term after being found guilty of sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy. The incident came to light when the young victim, who was active on a Doctor Who-themed internet forum, posted about the abuse, prompting concern from the forum moderator. The moderator promptly contacted the police, leading to an investigation that uncovered disturbing details about Abdollahi's actions.

During the trial at Bolton Crown Court, Abdollahi, who was residing on Lever Park Avenue in Horwich at the time, denied all four counts of sexual activity with a minor. He claimed that the allegations were fabricated by the boy. However, the jury, after deliberating for just an hour, found him guilty on all charges, trusting the account provided by the young victim.

The court heard that the abusive incidents took place over a period from September 2010 to January 2011. The first two instances involved Abdollahi touching the boy over his clothing, an act that was deemed inappropriate and illegal. The subsequent two incidents were more severe, with Abdollahi removing both his own clothing and that of the boy, although the abuse was interrupted before it could escalate further.

The young victim provided evidence via video link during the trial, and his emotional testimony revealed the trauma he endured. When asked why he had not confided in his father about the abuse earlier, the boy broke down in tears, highlighting the emotional toll of the ordeal.

Judge Timothy Clayson sentenced Abdollahi to three years in prison, with the understanding that he would serve half of that term behind bars. The judge also announced that upon release, Abdollahi would face deportation back to Iran, as he has no fixed address and is not a UK citizen.

Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Steve Roxburgh commented on the case, emphasizing the difficulty of such cases and the importance of victims coming forward. He stated, “It has been an ordeal for the victim and these are notoriously difficult cases. I hope this will encourage anyone in a similar situation to come forward in the knowledge they will be listened to and helped.”
