A domestic violence incident involved Aiden Ford, aged 30, who physically assaulted his partner during a visit to his mother’s residence in Cardiff on September 11, 2025.Ford, accompanied by his partner and a friend, had been consuming alcohol and cocaine when an argument arose after the victim revealed Ford’s earlier visit to a police station.
During the dispute, Ford attempted to force the victim out of the house, but she escaped and retreated to the bathroom to contact emergency services.
According to the prosecution, Ford then forcibly entered the bathroom, confiscated her phone despite her efforts to notify her mother, and continued his aggression.
He shouted at her and applied pressure around her neck with both hands, causing her to believe she was going to die.
She fought back by scratching his hand, prompting him to release her.
Ford also damaged several items belonging to his mother, including a vase, cup, and glass.
The couple eventually went to sleep, but police arrived after the victim’s mother called them.
Ford, who has no fixed address, admitted to charges of intentional strangulation, assault, and criminal damage.
He has a history of 35 prior convictions, including assaults on emergency workers and battery.
In her victim statement, the woman described ongoing trauma, including sleep disturbances, nightmares, anxiety, and reliance on alcohol to cope.
She expressed fear of Ford’s release from prison.
The defendant’s lawyer highlighted his struggles with alcoholism for over five years, homelessness, and diagnoses of autism and ADHD, stating he wishes to change his life.
Judge Matthew Porter-Bryant sentenced Ford to 122 weeks in prison approximately two years and four months and imposed a seven-year restraining order.
