BRISTOL MAN ADAN DAHIR SENTENCED TO LIFE FOR BRUTAL MURDER OF HIS WIFE
In a tragic case that has shocked the community of Bristol, 38-year-old Adan Dahir has been handed a life sentence after being convicted of the murder of his estranged wife, 27-year-old Asiyah Harris. The devastating incident occurred at their family residence in Bristol during August 2017, leaving a trail of grief and heartbreak in its wake.During the court proceedings, Judge Peter Blair delivered a stern judgment, stating that Dahir had 'intended to kill her.' The judge also remarked that Asiyah Harris was 'plainly terrified at the moment before the attack,' highlighting the brutality and premeditation involved in the crime. Dahir was found guilty of stabbing Asiyah three times, a violent act that ultimately led to her death.
The police responded swiftly to the scene on 22 August, entering the property through a window in an attempt to save her. Despite their efforts and administering first aid, they were unable to prevent her death. The tragic event has left the community in mourning, and her family has expressed their profound grief and relief at the verdict.
Her brother, Shyuab Harris, conveyed a mixture of relief and sorrow, stating, 'As a family we are very happy with the verdict of guilty and the length of sentence imposed. Asiyah will be missed by all of those who knew her and we are devastated by the loss of our daughter, sister and mother.' The loss of Asiyah Harris has deeply affected her loved ones and the wider Bristol community.
Police officials, including Detective Chief Inspector Gary Haskins, emphasized the importance of the custodial sentence, noting, 'I welcome the lengthy custodial sentence given to Adan Dahir today and hope the conclusion of this tragic case will help Asiyah's loved ones find some form of closure.' The case underscores the ongoing issues surrounding domestic violence and the importance of justice for victims.
