ADAM SHARMAN SENTENCED IN SWANSEA FOR CHILD INDECENCY OFFENSES
In September 2017, Adam Sharman, a former DVLA employee from Linkside Drive, Southgate, Gower, was sentenced after being found in possession of indecent images of children. Swansea Crown Court heard that when police visited Sharman’s residence in February, they confiscated his computer and discovered one Category A video — the most severe classification — along with seven Category C images.Sharman, aged 35, was previously convicted of two counts of possessing indecent images during a court appearance for sentencing. The court noted that he had no prior criminal convictions.
Paul Hobson, defending Sharman, stated that the defendant had resigned from his position at the DVLA and that "the loss of his good character is something he feels keenly." Hobson also mentioned that Sharman was beginning to confront and address the underlying reasons for his offending and was "facing up to the truth of things."
The judge sentenced Sharman to 10 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, and ordered him to complete a rehabilitation program. Additionally, he was placed under a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order to restrict his access to the internet, and he will be on the sex offenders register for the same period.
