BRADFORD MAN JAILED FOR OBSESSION-DRIVEN STALKING AND ASSAULT
An individual described as an 'obsessive' stalker who breached a restraining order multiple times has been sentenced to more than two years in prison.Adam Schlitzke, aged 36, was initially given a community punishment in December 2024 for stalking his former partner, but he continued to visit her home, according to reports from Bradford Crown Court.
Police responded to her residence on one occasion and found him hiding in a stairwell; they employed incapacitant spray after he lunged at officers.
He pleaded guilty to several offences, including harassment, assault of a police officer, violating a restraining order, and possession of cannabis, which resulted in a 30-month jail term.
The court was told that in February, he arrived at his ex-partner’s flat during the early hours, knocking and kicking when she refused to let him in.
Later that morning, he entered her flat without permission and refused to leave her bedroom.
After she attempted to contact police, Schlitzke followed her to a friend’s house.
He returned later and challenged police openly when they threatened to arrest him.
During his arrest, he lunged at an officer and was sprayed with incapacitant.
The judge emphasized that Schlitzke’s conduct stemmed from his obsessive belief that his ex was with another man.
The victim voiced her fears, sharing that she suffers from depression, anxiety, and panic attacks, which have prevented her from working.
She stated, 'I'm scared he might hurt me or someone else someday because of what I've done...
I worry that he will behave the same way if released on bail.' The court also revoked his original community order and imposed an additional three-month sentence for stalking.
