ADAM PARRY SENTENCED TO TWELVE YEARS IN PRISON IN ST AUSTELL FOR MULTIPLE SEXUAL OFFENCES
A 37-year-old man from Southbourne Road in St Austell has been sentenced to twelve years in prison after being convicted of multiple sexual offences. Adam Parry was found guilty by a jury of three counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and two counts of assault by penetration. The criminal trial was held at Truro Crown Court last month, during which it was disclosed that the offences took place over several years and were only reported in 2023.Throughout the trial, Parry maintained his innocence and denied all allegations until the end. On May 7, Judge Simon Carr handed down the 12-year sentence, noting that Parry showed no remorse or understanding of the harm caused to his victim.
In his defense, lawyer Rupert Taylor explained that Parry had a difficult upbringing, having been abandoned as a child, and was generally of good character prior to these crimes. Taylor also stated that Parry did not accept the jury’s findings or the court’s verdict.
Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Victoria Robson from Devon and Cornwall Police praised the investigation’s thoroughness and described the conviction as a positive outcome for the victim, who endured significant sexual abuse and exhibited bravery in coming forward. Robson emphasized that victims should be encouraged to report these crimes, promising they will be listened to and believed.
As part of the legal measures, Parry will be registered on the sex offenders' register for life, and a restraining order has been issued to prevent him from contacting his victim. The police reaffirmed their dedication to working within the criminal justice system to enhance community safety and highlighted the serious and lasting impact sexual assault can have on victims.
