ADAM MERCHANT FROM BARROW-IN-FURNESS JAILED FOR RAPE IN SALE PARK

In a case that has spanned over a decade and a half, Adam Merchant, a 35-year-old man from Mill Bank in Barrow-in-Furness, has been convicted of a serious sexual offence committed in Sale. The incident, which took place in the summer of 2005, involved the rape of a 15-year-old girl in Priory Gardens, a well-known public park in Sale, Greater Manchester.

Merchant was brought to justice after a lengthy investigation that was initiated in February 2020, when the incident was first reported to the police. The authorities launched a detailed inquiry into the matter, which eventually led to his arrest and subsequent trial.
