ADAM KITCHENER BRISTOL POLICE OFFICER BANNED AFTER ASSAULT ON TEENAGER

In a significant development within the criminal justice and law enforcement community, Adam Kitchener, a former police officer based in Bristol, has been officially barred from working in policing following a serious misconduct case.

The decision was made during a special hearing held at Police Headquarters, where authorities confirmed the allegations of gross misconduct against him had been substantiated.

Adam Kitchener, aged 36, was previously convicted and sentenced to 14 weeks in jail at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on 22 October.

The conviction stemmed from an incident that occurred in the early hours of 31 March on Marsh Street, Bristol, during which he was found to have assaulted a 15-year-old boy during an arrest.

The assault only came to light after an internal complaint was lodged by a colleague who witnessed the incident firsthand, followed by a further complaint from the boy’s family, which prompted an internal investigation.

Despite regulations that permit officers to resign while under investigation for gross misconduct, the misconduct process itself continues regardless of resignation.

In this case, the internal proceedings led to a formal hearing, which was chaired by Chief Constable Andy Marsh.

During this hearing, it was confirmed that the allegations of gross misconduct against Kitchener were proven to be true.

Had Kitchener not resigned from his position, he would have faced immediate dismissal.

However, the outcome of the hearing has resulted in a more severe consequence: he has been placed on the National College of Policing’s Barred List.

This list effectively prevents him from seeking employment within policing or any related law enforcement agencies, thereby barring him from returning to any official capacity within the police force.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about accountability and conduct within the police force, especially in cases involving the use of force and interactions with vulnerable individuals.

The decision to place Kitchener on the barred list underscores the commitment of law enforcement authorities to uphold integrity and public trust, ensuring that individuals who breach professional standards are appropriately sanctioned and kept from re-entering the policing profession.
