ADAM GREENACRE FROM SWAFFHAM CAUGHT IN SHOCKING ONLINE SEX OFFENSES INVOLVING PAEDOPHILE HUNTERS NEAR NORWICH

In a disturbing series of events that highlight the ongoing dangers of online predators, Adam Greenacre, a 37-year-old resident of Swaffham, has been brought back into the spotlight following his recent criminal activities involving online sexual misconduct. The incidents, which took place in early 2020, reveal a troubling pattern of behavior that has now culminated in his conviction and sentencing.

Greenacre’s latest offense involved him engaging in online conversations with what he believed was a 15-year-old girl. Unbeknownst to him, the individual he was communicating with was actually a member of a vigilant paedophile hunter group operating under the guise of a teenage girl. These conversations, which began in January, quickly escalated into sexually explicit exchanges. During these chats, Greenacre inquired about her age and expressed a desire for a romantic relationship, urging her to keep their interactions secret. He also requested photographs and shared his own phone number, indicating a willingness to engage in sexual activities with her and another person. The exchanges persisted over a span of three days, revealing his persistent intent to pursue illegal sexual contact.

Authorities were alerted to Greenacre’s online activities and responded by visiting his residence. When police arrived at his address on Fieldfare Way in Swaffham, they encountered significant resistance. Greenacre, displaying aggressive behavior, raised his fists and punched the door, threatening the officers and claiming that the police officer’s face would soon be like his own. As officers attempted to enter, Greenacre tried to retreat into his bedroom. Once inside, he continued to resist arrest, flailing his fists and physically assaulting an officer by striking him in the face and breaking his glasses in the process.

Greenacre’s court appearance on Thursday, May 7, saw him admitting to multiple charges. He pleaded guilty to attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity, which he committed on January 2 of this year. Additionally, he admitted to assaulting an emergency worker and damaging police property, specifically the officer’s glasses, on January 7. The court heard that Greenacre had previously been jailed in 2018 after admitting to nine counts of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity, a conviction that was part of a broader pattern of concerning behavior.

Judge Katharine Moore sentenced Greenacre to an extended term of 45 months in custody, followed by a 75-month period on license. The judge expressed her concern over Greenacre’s repeated offenses, noting that he had engaged in similar conduct on previous occasions and that it was highly probable he would reoffend. Furthermore, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) was set to be imposed at a future date, and Greenacre was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely, underscoring the seriousness of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.

These incidents are part of a broader pattern of criminal activity involving Greenacre, who has a history of online sexual offenses. In April 2018, he was caught by paedophile hunters attempting to meet girls under the age of 16 for sex. At that time, Greenacre believed he was communicating with nine underage girls aged 12 to 14, but in reality, he was speaking with adult volunteers dedicated to catching predators. The group’s efforts led to his arrest and subsequent 32-month jail sentence. During the investigation, Greenacre had provided his real address and contact details, unaware that he was being targeted.

Prosecutor Brian Reece highlighted Greenacre’s lack of awareness of the danger he was in, noting that he had no idea he was being monitored by the volunteers. Reece also pointed out Greenacre’s previous conviction for attempting to meet two 13-year-old girls in Dereham for sex, which occurred after he had been given a suspended sentence. The court’s judgment reflected grave concern over Greenacre’s high risk of re-offending, emphasizing the need for strict supervision and ongoing legal restrictions to protect potential victims from further harm.
