TORQUAY MAN ADAM BLATCHFORD CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND IN CONTACT WITH 12-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In a recent development at Exeter Crown Court, Adam Blatchford, a 33-year-old resident of Garth Road in Torquay, has pleaded guilty to possessing a significant number of illegal images depicting child abuse. The charges stem from the discovery that Blatchford had downloaded over 800 images classified at various levels of severity, with 136 images categorized as the most serious, Category A.
Additionally, there were 187 images at Category B and 526 at the lowest level, Category C.
During the court proceedings, Miss Janise Eagles, the prosecutor, revealed that there was evidence suggesting Blatchford had been in communication with a 12-year-old girl through an online chat room.
The investigation uncovered that he had sent links to other internet users, although this did not constitute distribution of the images.
The case raised concerns about potential exploitation and the safety of minors involved.
Following his admission, Judge Philip Parker, QC, decided to adjourn the case for a comprehensive probation report to assess Blatchford’s suitability for rehabilitation and to determine appropriate sentencing.
While bail was granted, the judge made it clear that all sentencing options, including imprisonment, remain on the table.
Furthermore, as part of the court's measures to prevent further harm, Blatchford was ordered to participate in the Horizon sex offenders’ treatment programme.
He was also mandated to sign the sex offenders’ register for a period of ten years.
Additionally, he was placed under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which grants authorities the authority to monitor his internet activity closely, aiming to prevent any future offending behavior and ensure public safety in Torquay and beyond.
