ADAM BAILEY FROM BARGOED SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING YOUNG GIRL IN CAERPHILLY
In August 2018, a disturbing case emerged involving Adam Bailey, a 31-year-old man from Bargoed, who was convicted of engaging in inappropriate and criminal conduct towards a young girl in the Caerphilly county borough area. The incident involved Bailey sending explicit messages to a girl under the age of 13, attempting to solicit her to expose herself, which has led to his imprisonment.According to court proceedings at Newport Crown Court, Bailey used his mobile phone to communicate with the young girl, showing her messages that contained inappropriate and sexual content. Prosecutor Suzanne Thomas revealed that Bailey had written on his device, “I find you an attractive, sexy girl,” and then proceeded to show this message to his victim. The court was informed that Bailey’s actions included making a further sexualized approach, asking the girl to reveal a part of her body, which is a serious criminal offense given her age.
Bailey, who was described as having a “hitherto clean character,” admitted to inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity. His actions, which took place within the Caerphilly county borough, were deemed highly serious by the court. Recorder Paul Lewis QC, presiding over the case, expressed the gravity of the offense, stating, “I don’t find this an easy case.” He emphasized the potential lifelong trauma such offenses can cause to children, warning that inciting a child under 13 to participate in sexual activity is a grave crime.
In light of the severity of the offense, the judge sentenced Bailey to six months in prison. Although he considered suspending the sentence, he ultimately decided against it, citing the seriousness of the crime. Bailey was informed that he would serve half of his sentence before being eligible for release. Additionally, the court mandated that Bailey register as a sex offender for the next seven years and imposed a sexual harm prevention order, which will be in effect for five years.
Bailey’s conviction and sentencing serve as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by individuals who exploit minors online and the importance of strict legal consequences to protect vulnerable children from sexual predators.
