ROTHERHAM MAN CHARGED WITH CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN OPERATION STOVEWOOD
In connection with the Rotherham child abuse scandal, three men have appeared in court facing a series of charges linked to the investigation known as Operation Stovewood, conducted by the National Crime Agency.
The alleged offences occurred during 2011 and 2012, involving two victims aged 13 to 15 who were residing in a children’s home at the time.
Absolom Sigiyo, aged 39 and from Catcliffe, Rotherham, is accused of rape, attempted rape, and witness intimidation.
The men appeared before Sheffield Magistrates Court on January 9 and were released on bail, with a scheduled appearance at Sheffield Crown Court on February 6.
Philip Marshall, NCA Senior Investigating Officer for Operation Stovewood, reaffirmed the continued importance of the investigation, which is focusing on child sexual abuse outside of family contexts in Rotherham between 1997 and 2013.
He encouraged anyone with relevant information or who believes they were victims to contact the NCA through email or the control center, as part of their ongoing pursuit of justice.
