ABRAR CHAUDHARY'S BRUTAL KILLING OF KITTENS IN BIRCHILLS AND WALSALL REVEALED
Abrar Ashraf Chaudhary, born around 1987 and residing on Miner Street in Birchills, Walsall WS2 8QN, has been convicted of a horrifying act of animal cruelty that shocked the local community. The incident involved the brutal assault and killing of two young kittens, with one of them, a four-month-old named Tiggy, suffering fatal injuries inflicted by Chaudhary using an unknown weapon. The attack took place amidst a background of drug addiction and previous violent behavior towards the animals.According to reports, Chaudhary, who was under the influence of crack cocaine at the time, became violent after his girlfriend refused to give him money for drugs. In a fit of rage, he targeted the helpless kittens, beating Tiggy to death in a manner described as sadistic and excessive. The same attack also severely injured Tiggy’s brother, Rascas, fracturing his eye socket in the process. Both kittens had previously been subjected to vicious assaults by Chaudhary, indicating a pattern of cruelty and violence.
During the incident, Chaudhary’s girlfriend attempted to enter the room where the kittens were kept, but he tried to prevent her from seeing the aftermath of his attack. She reportedly found sheets covered in blood and the lifeless body of Tiggy. The following day, when questioned by police officers, Chaudhary claimed that the injuries to the kittens had resulted from a game he was playing with them, which accidentally led to Tiggy’s death. He later told the probation service that the wounds on the kittens were caused by a falling TV, a statement that was clearly inconsistent with the evidence.
Post-mortem examinations revealed multiple injuries on Tiggy, including blunt force trauma to her skull, which was the cause of her death. The exam also uncovered signs of prolonged abuse over the previous weeks, suggesting a pattern of ongoing violence. Rascas’s injuries were similarly severe, with his eye socket smashed and evidence of past injuries consistent with repeated attacks.
Chaudhary’s legal troubles began in July 2021 when he pleaded not guilty to four counts of causing unnecessary suffering to the kittens, which involved causing blunt force trauma and failing to care for and protect them. Despite his plea, he was found guilty in his absence in December 2021, after failing to appear in court multiple times. His repeated absences were excused with various reasons, including contracting COVID-19 and suffering a nosebleed.
On 20 May 2024, after a lengthy legal process, Chaudhary was finally sentenced to 22 weeks in prison. District Judge Graham Wilkinson expressed his disapproval of the case, stating, “I should be sentencing you to years for your crimes. However, you are very lucky your sadistic attack on these defenseless kittens happened before the Government rightly realised these crimes needed longer sentences due to the pain and distress they cause.”
In addition to the prison sentence, Chaudhary was ordered to pay £1,000 in costs to the RSPCA, £2,058 for the post-mortem and veterinary bills, and a £122 victim surcharge. He was also handed a 10-year ban on keeping any animals, which will expire in May 2034. Chaudhary’s background includes origins from Slough and strong links to Leicester, with a possible permanent address on Wolverton Road, Leicester LE3 2AJ, indicating his ties to the area where the crimes occurred and where he has been under scrutiny for his actions.
