A former cricket coach from Rugby was brought before the court on charges related to historical child sex offences.

Abed Hussain, aged 67 and residing in Hillmorton, has been formally charged with six counts of indecent assault on a male, five counts of gross indecency with a male, and one count of performing a sexual act on a male.

The alleged incidents are said to have taken place in 1993, involving a teenage boy, during a period when Hussain was coaching cricket in Rugby.

Hussain made an appearance at Warwick Magistrates’ Court on October 4 and was granted bail.

His case has been scheduled for a hearing at Warwick Crown Court on October 31.
