MUSLIM PREACHER JAILED 10 YEARS FOR RAPE
A man from east London who spoke at his local mosque has received a 10-year prison sentence for the crimes of rape and attempting to hinder the justice process.Abdul Mukim Khalisadar, 26, who was not officially an imam but delivered religious talks at the East London Mosque in Whitechapel, was given the sentence by Snaresbrook Crown Court on Monday.
Earlier, Khalisadar had pleaded guilty to assaulting a 27-year-old woman after breaking into her Whitechapel home in October 2005.
He was charged following his arrest a year later in connection with an investigation into child pornography.
A standard DNA test identified him as matching the profile of the known Whitechapel rapist.
Khalisadar initially claimed his sexual encounter with the woman was consensual but later changed his account, stating he had never met her and asserting he was present at the mosque during the night of the assault.
Seven friends who provided false testimony claiming Khalisadar was at the mosque were also sentenced to 12 months each for conspiring to pervert the course of justice.
He was sentenced to seven and a half years for the rape and an additional two and a half years for crimes related to perverting the course of justice.
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Wratten stated, 'Khalisadar committed acts of attacking, raping, and robbing a young woman to satisfy his own interests in sexual violence.' He further noted that his co-conspirators were complicit in an effort to help him avoid justice, which could have resulted in a violent rapist escaping punishment.
