ABDUL KHAN FROM ALUM ROCK SENTENCED FOR MULTIPLE SEXUAL OFFENCES IN BIRMINGHAM

The West Midlands Police have publicly responded to mounting criticism following the conviction of Abdul Khan, a resident of Raymond Street in Alum Rock, for a series of serious sexual offences. Khan's criminal activities came to light after a thorough investigation and a subsequent trial that resulted in his conviction on multiple counts.

During the trial, it was established that Khan was responsible for two separate incidents involving non-consensual sexual acts. He was found guilty of two counts of rape and one count of assault by penetration. The first victim's encounter with Khan took place at the PRZYM nightclub located on Broad Street. According to court reports, the victim was drinking and appeared disoriented when Khan approached her. He then suggested they step outside to get some fresh air, but instead of complying, she was driven to a secluded alleyway. There, Khan assaulted her despite her desperate pleas and sobs, begging to be released. The victim managed to break free from his grasp and sought refuge at a stranger’s house nearby, prompting the police to be called to the scene.

In a separate incident, Khan arranged to pick up a second woman under the pretense of going to a friend's flat to relax. Instead, he drove her to the same address in Ward End. Over a span of approximately 40 minutes, Khan subjected her to a brutal attack. During this assault, he used a chokehold and pressed on her neck to prevent her from escaping, demonstrating a clear intent to overpower and control her. The judge presiding over the case, Heidi Kubik, described Khan as a 'dangerous' individual and extended his license period to five years, emphasizing the severity of his actions.

Judge Kubik remarked on the case, stating, “This was a very strong prosecution case. Both complainants gave clear accounts of non-consensual sexual activity in circumstances where it would have been obvious they were not consenting, but you overpowered them and carried on regardless. Neither complainant knew one another yet there were a number of similarities in their accounts of your attitude and behaviour towards them.”

The police highlighted the extensive efforts involved in securing Khan’s conviction, including the use of CCTV footage, forensic evidence, and other investigative techniques. They emphasized their commitment to tackling violence against women and girls, describing such crimes as 'extremely serious.'

As a result of his actions, Abdul Khan received a lengthy prison sentence, reflecting both the gravity of his offences and the threat he poses to the community. The judge concluded by acknowledging the bravery of the victims, stating, “It involved extensive CCTV and forensic investigations, which provided compelling evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service to secure charges. It was appalling that Khan committed another offence, and thanks to the courage of his victims, he has been rightly convicted and sentenced to a long term behind bars.”
