PETERHEAD INDIAN RESTAURANT OWNERS ABDUL KAIUM ABRUPT RAKIB SEXUALLY ASSAULT TEENAGE GIRLS IN ABERDEEN
Two men from Peterhead, both involved in the local Indian restaurant scene, have been found guilty of sexually assaulting two teenage girls after a night of what was supposed to be entertainment and socializing in Aberdeen. The offenders, Abdul Kaium and Muhammad Abdur Rakib, aged 37, were convicted following a four-day trial at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, where the jury carefully examined the evidence presented against them.According to court reports, the victims, aged 16 and 17 at the time, recounted how the two men, who are both associated with Zara’s Indian Cuisine in Peterhead, initially took them out for a night of drinks. The evening began with the girls being taken to a nightclub in Aberdeen, where they were served alcohol. The men’s intentions appeared to shift as the night progressed, leading them to escort the girls to a city-centre hotel.
It was during this hotel stay that the alleged sexual assaults occurred. The victims described how Abdul Kaium and Muhammad Abdur Rakib, after providing alcohol to the girls, engaged in acts of sexual misconduct within the confines of the hotel room and later in a vehicle. The court heard detailed testimonies from the girls, who expressed feelings of fear and betrayal, emphasizing that they had been manipulated and taken advantage of during what was supposed to be a fun night out.
The conviction of the two men has sent shockwaves through the local community in Peterhead, where they are known for their roles in the restaurant industry. The case highlights the dangers of predatory behavior under the guise of hospitality and social outings, especially involving vulnerable young individuals.
As the legal proceedings concluded, the court emphasized the importance of protecting minors from exploitation and ensuring that justice is served for victims of sexual assault. The two men now face sentencing, with authorities promising to continue their efforts to combat such crimes and safeguard the community from similar incidents in the future.
