BRECHIN MAN AARON NICOL SENTENCED FOR VIOLENT ATTACK ON PARTNER AND TEENAGER IN DISTURBING INCIDENT

A man from Brechin, identified as Aaron Nicol, has been sentenced to four and a half months in prison following a violent confrontation that took place in June. The incident involved him assaulting his former partner in front of a nine-month-old child, as well as engaging in a physical struggle with a 14-year-old boy, leaving a trail of distress and concern in the community.

According to court records, Nicol, aged 30 and residing on Union Street in Brechin, appeared before Forfar Sheriff Court from custody. It was noted that he was already on remand for another matter, which added to the gravity of his current sentencing. The court was informed that Nicol had pleaded guilty to charges of assaulting his former girlfriend and behaving in a threatening and abusive manner at an address in Brechin on June 12.

The court proceedings revealed that the catalyst for the violent outburst was a dispute stemming from Nicol’s partner informing him that he would need to remain at home longer than expected while she was working. This news appeared to have triggered Nicol’s anger, as he was upset over plans he had made for that Saturday afternoon. Additionally, he accused his partner of infidelity, which further escalated the situation.

During the incident, Nicol assaulted his former partner, spitting on her in a display of contempt and aggression. The situation intensified when he engaged in a physical struggle with a 14-year-old boy, who was present at the scene. Following the altercation, Nicol fled the scene before law enforcement officers could arrive to intervene.

In delivering the sentence, Sheriff Francis Gill described the incident as particularly nasty, emphasizing the emotional and psychological impact on the victims.
