PERVERT IN SEX CHATS WITH ’14-YEAR-OLD GIRL’ STUNG BY PAEDOPHILE HUNTERS
A PERVERT who was confronted and filmed by a group of paedophile hunters has now been jailed.Aaron Law thought that he was having online sex chats with a young teenage girl.
However, the 31-year-old was in fact talking to a decoy account being operated by a member of the group, who confronted him and called the police.
Following his arrest, the defendant was later charged with engaging in sexual communications with a child, as well as breach of a suspended sentence order.
He admitted the offences when he appeared before Chester Magistrates’ Court recently, with justices proceeding to pass sentence in the case.
Scott Woodward, prosecuting, told the court that the offences were committed between September 1 and 17 this year.
Law sent messages to the ‘14-year-old girl’, including that he wanted her to ‘sit on him’, while he also called her ‘cutie’ and said that he had feelings for her, the group said.
He also described sexual activity he wished to do with her, sent sexually explicit images, and requested nude images of the ‘child’ in return.
The defendant was confronted by members of the Save Our Children Online paedophile hunter group, detained, and interviewed on camera.
On the video, he said that he was just ‘being friendly’ to the girl, and confirmed that she said that she was 14 on her profile.
Law said that it was a ‘stupid mistake’, to which a member of the group said: “Putting salt on your tea is a stupid mistake.
You’re talking to a kid – that’s more than a stupid mistake.” The court heard that this offence placed him in breach of a sentence of 26 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, which was imposed on July 14.
This came after he was caught carrying a kitchen knife in public in Crewe on April 1.
He was also previously jailed for 40 months in September 2021 after committing an armed robbery at a convenience store in Birchwood.
Law was sentenced at Chester Magistrates' Court.
A hooded Law stormed into the McColls on Admirals Road and held a knife to the shopkeeper’s neck as he ‘frogmarched’ him to the till and demanded money.
He fled the scene with £578.90 but was caught out after leaving his DNA on the victim’s jacket.
For his latest offending, magistrates gave him credit for his guilty pleas, but they opted to sentence him without the benefit of a pre-sentence report.
It was said that, due to him breaching his suspended sentence, this would be activated, making custody inevitable.
They also highlighted that the offence was so serious that only a custodial sentence could be justified, given its nature and the level of risk he is deemed to pose.
Law, of Heather Close in Birchwood, was sentenced to 60 weeks in prison, to be served immediately.
In addition, he was ordered to sign the sex offender register for the next 10 years.
