AARON GOVER'S SHOCKING CRIME IN ROSYTH AND DUNFERMLINE: DRINK-DRIVER AND BRUTAL ATTACK

Aaron Gover, a 25-year-old resident of Sherbrooke Road in Rosyth, found himself in serious legal trouble following a violent incident that took place on August 18 in Dunfermline. The events unfolded after Gover, who had been drinking heavily, lost control of his vehicle and collided with a roundabout on Queensferry Road. The crash was only the beginning of a night marked by aggression and assault.

According to court records, Gover, who was under the influence of alcohol at the time, had a very brief romantic relationship with the victim, having only been together for approximately two weeks. The relationship took a dark turn after they had been out drinking together in Dunfermline. The pair then went to Gover’s home, where tensions escalated. Witnesses and the prosecution described Gover as becoming increasingly aggressive, reportedly getting in the woman's face and engaging in a heated argument over a mobile phone.

Following the argument, Gover got into the woman’s car and drove away, despite the earlier alcohol consumption. During the drive, Gover’s behavior worsened, culminating in a collision with a roundabout. After the crash, he refused assistance from a passing taxi driver, choosing instead to continue his aggressive behavior. It was during this period that Gover physically assaulted the woman, choking her to the point where she struggled to breathe. The assault intensified as he repeatedly struck her head against the car’s bonnet, causing her significant distress and physical harm.

The victim managed to escape the ordeal by fleeing to a nearby taxi. She entered the vehicle and instructed the driver to leave the scene, seeking safety from Gover’s violence. The incident was reported to the authorities, leading to Gover’s arrest and subsequent court proceedings.

During the court hearing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court, Gover admitted to the charges. He pleaded guilty to assaulting the woman by repeatedly seizing her by the throat and striking her head against the car’s bonnet. Additionally, he confessed to driving while intoxicated, with a breath alcohol level of 30 microgrammes per 100 millilitres, exceeding the legal limit of 22 microgrammes. The prosecution, led by Depute Fiscal Azrah Yousaf, highlighted that the assault occurred shortly after the couple’s brief relationship had begun, emphasizing the severity of the violence inflicted.

Gover’s defence solicitor, Aime Allan, described the offences as “out of character” for her client, asserting that he was a first-time offender. The court was also informed that Gover’s actions caused psychological harm to the victim, who was a stranger to him prior to the incident.

In sentencing, Sheriff Allan Findlay ordered Gover to pay £500 in compensation to the victim. He also imposed a one-year driving ban and a fine of £420. The court’s decision underscores the seriousness of the offences committed by Gover, highlighting the dangers of alcohol-fuelled violence and reckless driving in the community of Dunfermline and Rosyth.
