SERVING MET POLICE OFFICER CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT
A Metropolitan police officer, PC Christopher Gudgeon, who is part of the Central South Basic Command Unit, has been formally charged with sexual assault.The charge follows an incident of alleged sexual misconduct that supposedly occurred while he was off-duty.
The Metropolitan police have stated that their professional standards department is aware of the case, and Gudgeon has been assigned limited duties during this period.
He was officially charged through postal requisition on 9 July and is set to appear before Bromley magistrates court on 31 July.
The allegations are serious, involving sexual assault committed by an officer when off-duty.
The police are managing the case internally, with legal proceedings expected to continue shortly.
