BERKSHIRE MAN JAILED FOR LIFE FOR WIFE MURDER
An airline employee named Zaheer Ahmed, aged 28, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife, Adeeba Ahmed, who was 27 years old.He murdered her by strangulation during a fit of rage, then concealed her body inside a suitcase that he later threw into the River Thames.
Ahmed initially reported his wife missing on Valentine's Day in 2004, but investigators uncovered inconsistencies in his explanation.
The suitcase containing her remains was eventually found in south London after a member of the public made a report.
Judge Peter Rook characterized Ahmed’s actions as 'callously and calculatedly' attempting to conceal her body.
Prosecutor Jonathan Laidlaw stated that Ahmed 'had callously and calculatedly' sought to get rid of her in the river, with the judge setting a minimum term of 15 years before Ahmed can become eligible for parole.
