ABUSIVE BOYFRIEND JAILED
A man facing charges of abusive conduct attempted to strangle his pregnant partner, who was 36 weeks pregnant at the time, as part of a four-year pattern of controlling behaviour.Zach Pennell carried out the attack on Sophie Henson after he pulled his vehicle over to the roadside during a drive.
He then fled the scene by running into nearby woods, leaving Sophie hurt and vulnerable inside the car.
The assault caused her skin to turn blue, and she felt she was in immediate danger of death.
Over their four-year relationship, Pennell exercised dominance over her, leading to feelings of entrapment and worthlessness, and convincing her that she depended on him for survival.
The 27-year-old has been jailed for his domestic abuse.
He received a 21-month prison sentence and a restraining order that bans him from contacting his victim for the next five years.
