PONTYPRIDD SEX OFFENDER JAILED FOR RAPE AND ABUSE OF YOUNG BOYS
Yossa Maunders, who also goes by the name Andrew Yorath, has been convicted of multiple serious offenses involving two young boys, leaving them profoundly frightened and emotionally damaged. The crimes occurred when Maunders was in his late teens, during which he would entrap victims by isolating them and taking them to secluded areas to commit sexual assaults.
The court learned that Maunders assaulted the boys while they were younger than 16, instructing them to keep quiet about the incidents.
One disturbing event saw Maunders wielding a brick and threatening to crush a victim’s head before forcing him to kneel and abusing him.
It was also revealed that Maunders had a prior history of similar criminal behavior, including a case in 2021 where he was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the systematic abuse of a young boy nearly three decades earlier.
During the current legal hearing, an adult victim delivered a heartfelt statement about the lasting trauma: "Your predatory actions broke me.
I spent my childhood in constant fear.
I was shattered and felt overwhelmingly alone.
The abuse caused depression, withdrawal, and a lack of trust.
I was put on antidepressants as a teenager.
Even now as an adult, I do not understand what "normal" means; it feels distant.
Building genuine relationships remains a challenge, and I often feel everything is a sham.
I continue to take medication and live with depression.
The pain caused by your actions is unlikely ever to fully disappear.
The damage on many levels is permanent.
The process of reliving this trauma has been among the most difficult experiences I have faced." The judge labeled Maunders’ actions as "depraved," emphasizing how he knowingly secluded and harmed his victims in serious ways.
Maunders admitted to nine counts of sexual assault of a male under 16 and five counts of indecent assault, resulting in a sentence of 12 years imprisonment, with four more years on licence.
He was also subjected to a lifelong order to prevent sexual harm and an indefinite restraining order against one of the victims.
The judge warned that any further offenses after release could lead to a life sentence.
Maunders is currently serving his sentence at HMP Parc.
