WOLFGANG PRASCH FROM SOUTHAM CAUGHT SENDING INDECENT IMAGES VIA FACEBOOK

In a case that has shocked the community of Southam, Warwick Crown Court heard how Wolfgang Prasch, a 26-year-old resident of Ash Grove, Southam, was caught in possession of and actively distributing indecent images of children. The incident came to light after police investigations revealed that Prasch had been involved in the online sharing of such material through Facebook.

According to court records, the police received a tip in December 2019 indicating that an email address associated with Prasch had uploaded an indecent image to a Facebook account. Acting swiftly on this information, officers visited his residence in Southam in June of the following year. During the raid, they detained Prasch and seized multiple electronic devices, including his phone, laptop, i-Pad, and a USB stick.

Further examination of these devices uncovered a disturbing collection of hundreds of images and videos depicting children engaged in sexual activities. The investigation revealed that Prasch had initially viewed images of pre-teen models but had later accessed the dark web to find more explicit and indecent material. Despite his self-confessed attraction to children, Prasch maintained that he had no intention of meeting or harming any minors, asserting that his actions were confined to online activity.

During the court proceedings, Prasch admitted to the charges, which included three counts of making indecent images of children and one count of distributing such images. He expressed awareness of his problematic behavior, stating that he had attempted to stop on several occasions by deleting images but had continued to access and view the material. Prosecutor John O’Higgins highlighted that although many images had been deleted from the devices, police found 293 indecent images still accessible on his electronic equipment.

In sentencing, Recorder Balraj Bhatia QC imposed a three-year community order on Prasch. The order requires him to participate in a sex offender rehabilitation program and engage in a specified rehabilitation activity. Additionally, he was ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work and to register as a sex offender for a period of five years. The judge rejected the suggestion of imposing a curfew, emphasizing the seriousness of the offenses and the need for ongoing monitoring and rehabilitation.
