FORMER SPECIAL CONSTABLE CONVICTED OF 22 SEXUAL OFFENCES
A former special constable serving with Northamptonshire Police has been found guilty of numerous sexual offences. In 2020, authorities received intelligence indicating that 48-year-old Wissem Bonafia potentially possessed illegal images of children.
Subsequently, in August, police officers visited his property in Barton Seagrave, where he was taken into custody and several electronic devices were recovered.
An examination of the devices revealed a large number of indecent images and videos depicting females from prepubescent ages up to 17, many of which Bonafia had taken himself.
The offences spanned from 2014 to 2019.
Bonafia faced multiple charges including six counts of raping a woman aged 16 or over, one count of assault by penetration, six charges of assault causing actual bodily harm, five counts of taking indecent photographs of a child, four counts of making indecent photographs of a child, one count of inciting a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity, one count of sexual communication with a child, and one count of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
A trial was scheduled for February 16, 2026, during which two additional charges were added: one for raping a child and another for inciting a child to participate in non-sexual acts.
On the first day of proceedings, Bonafia admitted guilt to six offences, specifically five counts of taking indecent photographs of a child and one of assault causing actual bodily harm.
The remaining 21 charges proceeded to trial, with evidence presented over two weeks.
During the trial, Bonafia further pleaded guilty to four more counts of causing actual bodily harm.
Today, March 30, he was convicted of an additional 12 offences.
However, he was acquitted of three counts of rape, one charge of sexual communication with a child, and one count of possessing indecent images.
