WILLIAM WINDSOR CAUGHT WITH CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN THORNEY AND PLEADS GUILTY
In a case that has shocked the community of Thorney, William Windsor, a 72-year-old resident of Wisbech Road, found himself at the center of a serious criminal investigation involving indecent images of children.The incident began in November 2017 when police officers visited Windsor’s home for an unrelated matter.
Although no further action was taken regarding that initial visit, during their presence, officers seized Windsor’s computer tower for examination.
Subsequent analysis revealed that the device contained a disturbing collection of indecent images of minors.
The police discovered a total of 121 such images, categorized into different severity levels: 72 images classified as Category C, 20 as Category B, and 29 as the most severe Category A.
These findings confirmed Windsor’s possession of material that is considered highly illegal and morally reprehensible.
Following the discovery, Windsor was taken into custody and subjected to police interviews.
During questioning, he vehemently denied any knowledge of the images or how they might have ended up on his computer.
He maintained that the only photographs stored on his devices were of personal interests, specifically holiday scenes and steam trains.
Windsor also claimed that he had not asked anyone to wipe his laptop of any evidence, despite the fact that he later handed the device over to a friend with that very request.
Instead of complying with Windsor’s request, his friend chose to hand the laptop over to the police.
Upon further investigation, authorities found an additional six indecent images on the device, including one from Category C, four from Category B, and two from Category A.
These new findings further implicated Windsor in the possession of illegal material.
In subsequent police interviews, Windsor continued to deny any involvement or awareness of the indecent images.
He insisted that the only content on his devices was related to his hobbies and denied asking his friend to erase any evidence.
However, during the course of the investigation, Windsor eventually admitted to perverting the course of justice and to making two counts of indecent images of children.
On June 10, at Peterborough Crown Court, Windsor pleaded guilty to all charges.
The court sentenced him to 12 months in prison, but this sentence was suspended for two years, meaning he would not serve time unless he committed another offence within that period.
Additionally, Windsor was ordered to complete a 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement aimed at addressing his behavior.
Furthermore, Windsor was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) that will remain in effect for ten years, restricting his activities and monitoring his behavior.
He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for the same duration, ensuring ongoing oversight of his conduct to protect the community of Thorney and beyond.
