WILLIAM PEARSON SHOCKS KIRKCAMBECK AND CARLISLE WITH DISTURBING SEX ACTS IN FRONT OF SCHOOLGIRLS
In a disturbing incident that has shocked the community of Kirkcambeck and the wider Carlisle area, William Pearson, aged 45, was found guilty of engaging in indecent acts in front of schoolgirls in Chapel Street, Carlisle. The court heard that Pearson, who resides in Kirkcambeck near Brampton, committed these acts on five separate occasions between January 15 and April 22 of this year.According to reports, Pearson was observed performing a sexual act on himself while sitting in his van, which was parked outside the premises of Classic World of Fitness. The victims, three schoolgirls from Trinity School, encountered Pearson during their routine passage through the area. The girls described feeling a mixture of shock, outrage, disgust, and nervousness upon witnessing his behavior. One of the girls specifically noted that Pearson was “staring intently” at her as he committed the act, which added to the distress caused.
Following the incidents, the girls reported their experiences to their headteacher, who promptly contacted the police to investigate the matter. The police response led to Pearson’s arrest and subsequent court proceedings. It was revealed that Pearson had previously pleaded guilty to five counts of outraging public decency at Carlisle Crown Court, highlighting a pattern of disturbing behavior.
During the sentencing hearing, Judge Paul Batty QC did not hold back in condemning Pearson’s actions. He described the behavior as “revolting” and emphasized the seriousness of the offences. The judge stated, “I view these offences seriously. You have targeted young girls in order to gratify your sexual urges. This activity is quite appalling and extremely distressing to the young victims.”
As part of his sentence, Pearson was ordered to complete a three-year community rehabilitation order, which includes mandatory attendance at a sex offenders’ programme. Additionally, he is required to pay costs amounting to £778 and will remain on the sex offenders’ register for a period of five years. The case has left a lasting impact on the community, raising concerns about safety and the protection of young people in the area.
