WILLIAM MCALEESE SHOCKS FIFE WITH SEX OFFENCES IN BALINGRY AND NEAR KINROSS

William McAleese, a resident of Southfield Avenue in the town of Ballingry, Fife, faced a serious legal ordeal last month when he stood trial before a jury at Dunfermline Sheriff Court. The court proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of sexual misconduct spanning several years, leading to a conviction on three separate charges.

Following the trial, McAleese was remanded into custody as he awaited sentencing. The court, presided over by Sheriff Charles Macnair, ultimately handed down an extended sentence of four years. This sentence was structured to include two years of immediate detention, followed by an additional two years on licence, reflecting the gravity of his crimes and the potential risk he poses to the community if released prematurely.

In addition to the custodial sentence, McAleese was ordered to be placed on the sex offenders' register indefinitely, a measure designed to monitor and manage his conduct long-term. The offences for which he was convicted occurred over a five-year period, from July 29, 2012, to July 28, 2017, highlighting a prolonged pattern of abuse.

During the earliest incident, a victim aged just 12 was subjected to sexual assault in a lay-by near Kinross. A second victim, aged 14, was also assaulted in the same location. The court heard that McAleese's offending extended to Ballingry, where he committed further sexual offences.

Specifically, McAleese was convicted of sexually assaulting a male by placing his hand inside the victim’s underwear, touching his penis, and masturbating him. Another incident involved the same victim, where McAleese pulled down the victim’s clothing, touched his penis, and performed oral sex on him at a lay-by near Scotlandwell. Additionally, he was found guilty of seizing another young male’s penis over his clothing during a separate incident within the same timeframe and location.

The court's findings paint a disturbing picture of repeated sexual misconduct over several years, with victims as young as 12 and 14. The sentencing reflects the serious nature of these offences and the court’s concern for public safety, emphasizing the need for strict supervision and monitoring of McAleese’s activities moving forward.
