A man received a prison sentence of over two years after making threats to kill his former partner.
William Gurney was sentenced to 27 months in prison at Chester Crown Court on Friday, 16 January, following his guilty plea to charges of harassment causing fear of violence and possession of cannabis.
The 22-year-old, residing on Saughall Close in Davenham, Northwich, was previously fined £80 for the drug offence during an earlier hearing.
Gurney and his victim had been in a relationship, and during a dispute in 2025, he made multiple threats to kill her and others, threatened to cut her throat, and declared he would set her house on fire.
He also urged her to harm herself.
Within two days, Gurney made over 100 phone calls and sent hundreds of threatening text messages to the victim and her relatives.
He also visited her home and attempted to enter the property, initially trying to access the garden.
Police responded to the incident, and Gurney was apprehended following a foot chase during which he discarded cannabis.
He was subsequently charged in connection with the events.
