WILLIAM FALCONER ARDROSSAN SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED AFTER FAILING TO APPEAR IN COURT
In April 2021, William Falconer, a 35-year-old sex offender from Ardrossan, found himself back in the spotlight following a series of troubling incidents involving inappropriate communications and legal violations.Falconer had previously been involved in a case where he was caught sending indecent messages and sharing pornographic links to what he believed was a 13-year-old girl.
The communication took place between March 21 and March 28 of the previous year, targeting a girl he thought was underage, in Irvine’s Clark Drive area.
Despite the serious nature of his actions, Falconer was initially spared jail time.
Instead, he was placed under a Community Payback Order, which is a form of supervised community service, with the expectation that he would adhere to certain conditions.
However, he failed to attend a scheduled review hearing on Monday, April 19, prompting authorities to issue a warrant for his arrest.
This failure to appear was particularly significant because Falconer had already been under supervision since November 17, 2020, following previous offences.
Following his arrest and subsequent court proceedings, Falconer’s supervision was revoked.
He was sentenced to 12 months in prison for his failure to comply with court orders and for the initial offences involving the inappropriate messages.
Additionally, the court mandated that Falconer be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for a period of ten years, reflecting the severity of his conduct and the potential risk he poses to the community.
Falconer, who most recently resided on Princes Street in Ardrossan, had previously admitted to attempting to induce a minor to engage in sexual activity, viewing sexual images, and communicating indecently through written messages.
His actions included sending links to pornography and encouraging the recipient to perform sexual acts, all under the mistaken belief that the recipient was an older child.
His criminal record also includes other offences.
In August 2019, Falconer was fined £240 after being caught shouting, swearing, and making offensive remarks on Irvine High Street.
During this incident, he repeatedly pressed a buzzer and kicked a door.
Less than two months later, in October 2019, he was involved in stealing alcohol from an Aldi store in Saltcoats.
Both of these offences occurred while Falconer was on bail, which had been granted on April 30, 2019, highlighting a pattern of disregard for legal restrictions and community safety.
These incidents underscore the ongoing concerns about Falconer’s conduct and the importance of strict legal measures to protect vulnerable individuals from potential harm.
